About
(b. 1990) Raised in central Idaho, Silas has come to treasure a token of the rugged and dangerous nature that still exists in this world. He developed a passion for drawing and nature at an early age, fostered by his parents' love and inspired by the untouched, unfathomable beauty of creation, which is spoken into being with far greater skill than any brush could ever muster. This world appears to be softened by distractions, yet it bubbles with adventure, existing somewhere about 50 miles outside of any given city, igniting Silas's desire to capture and create. It is this very danger that amplifies the beauty and this risk that enhances the reward for Silas.
A childhood spent in the backcountry with his father exposed him to the distinct birthmarks and icons of valleys, mountains, high deserts, vast plains, and the raging waters that carve them still. His desire to create work that evokes memory and speaks to the body, senses, and mind continues to push Silas to attempt to create the illusion of solidity, time, emotion, risk, danger, beauty, and reward in his work. In a world whose mechanics seem too wild for a fringe sci-fi movie, it is the distinctly imputed beauty in creation—from the daisy to the raven to the million-pound cumulonimbus floating overhead—that constantly points Silas to God in gratitude, joy, and inspiration.
After college, he continued his education by strengthening his fundamentals and work ethic in painting through five years of invaluable apprenticeships. He receives the greatest support from his wife and children, whom he values more than any earthly treasure.
